What is the difference between INSTALLDIR and TARGETDIR ?

If I am building an install that does not have any components, just uses a
merge module, how do I set the INSTALLDIR ?

And what do I need to add in the merge module to make it install its
components into the INSTALLDIR of the MSI?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm no merge module expert (haven't written one yet) however, I
believe I have a good understanding...

"INSTALLDIR" is something your or your tool have defined and
"TARGETDIR" is a directory documented in the Windows Installer doco.

All installs have components... As do merge modules, in merge modules
there are no features.

INSTALLDIR is what InstallShield calls their installation folder for historical
reasons. I think it usually parents up to TARGETDIR, but I don't know whether
setting a TARGETDIR location on a command line install works or not.
